Staircase to a Magical Mural

Omaha Magazine's home edition visited the cornfield Kingman painted up the stairway of the family's house in Omaha.

Most of Eugene Kingman’s murals were public commissions, from New Deal post offices to the world map for The New York Times. One was painted for his own family. Up the stairway wall of their house in Omaha he painted a cornfield, rows of stalks climbing with the stairs toward farm buildings and rolling hills at the top.

In August 2017 the home edition of Omaha Magazine told the story of that mural in “Staircase to a Magical Mural.”
